So far, it has been predominantly a passing team, averaging about 180 yards through the air and barely over 100 yards on the ground. So lately, it is been a concentration of basically developing more balance. How about some of your players individually now? How about your quarterback? Well, he's one of the youngest. Craig Kimball's a 19-year-old sophomore and just doing great things for us. He's nationally rated in both the total offense and the passing statistics and showing a lot of poise for a young guy, 19, going on 27. There's been a lot pressure on him, and he's responded well to it. Dale Knott, our senior fullback, is back and starting to have a real good year after early season injuries. Larry Lohan, another fullback, is the second leading rush around the team, and he's doing an excellent job. Chris Moyner, our tight end, is a nationally ranked receiver. He's averaging five catches a game. Art Warner's only caught two balls from his wide receiver position, or ten passes from his wide receiver positions, but six of them have been for touchdowns, so he's a pretty dangerous threat. Defensively we've got Cody Jones is probably going to be the key to this game. He's a six foot six, 245 pound defensive tackle who would probably be the key to our pass rush against Dan Fouts. How about your injury situation? Well, Cody Jones has just recovered from a knee injury. He played about half the game against New Mexico and it appeared that he's ready to go. Dale Knott had a hamstring earlier in the season but he's appeared to shake that off. Basically, we're just a little bruised from playing that hard-driving New Mexico team last weekend, but nothing hobbling.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71451/file/157404#t=9.92,111.63
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71451/file/157404/transcript/90058/annotation/3
Speaker 3: As of today, we are at 82.7 percent of goal, and this amounts to $489,686. The first surveyors that came through here carved on the face of the trees and drove wood stakes into the ground. Well, of course, the wood stakes rotted in a very short period of time. However, the carvings that they carved on the trees did remain. This particular carving came from out in the Vanita No-Tie area. Then have that committee convene at least two weeks prior to the opening of the session and do some of the preliminary work. We'll be consulting with the governor to see how far along they are in getting the concepts he's proposed into a bill form. Then very quickly, with the beginning of the sessions and the public hearing process, and hopefully to have action on it. In the House sometime in January. The reason this is important is that I want to see this program through and part of the Oregon law and constitution in time for next year's school budget so they don't have to return to the property tax for one more year, get it done quickly, get approval of it, and next year the meaningful property tax relief has finally arrived and no one believes the Oregon legislation will ever do. Yes, it's my hope that we will be able to work it through the legislative process quickly enough so that then if it's necessary to have a vote of the people to have it during this session and if it happens during the session we'll know that it means probably tax relief for 1973 or we go back to the drawing boards and come up with something that probably then would be delayed till the following year. I hope that we'll give serious consideration to come up with some long-range goals and objectives as to what this state is going to be like in the year 2000 or thereabouts. Right now, many of the fiscal decisions that are being made occur because somebody introduces a bill and then if it sounds like a hot idea at the moment, it gets the funding necessary or the program has started. And I'd like to see some, we'll be working for some, defining some long-range goals and objectives so that when these type of programs come along, we can make judgments based on how they fit into these long- range goals. And that primarily is what we want this state to be like in the year 2000, as far as the environment's concerned, air, water, land. Governmental services, to what degree, to what extent, what will we, how will we be taking care of our agent, how we will be taking care of our young people, what kind of an educational system will we have, and rather than having a session for about four months every two years and just consider that short range, we ought to be thinking how whatever we do fits into the long range best interests of the State of Oregon.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71451/file/157404#t=650.12,826.57
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71451/file/157404/transcript/90058/annotation/16
Speaker 10: We were discussing the use of revenue sharing and pointed out that tax relief is one of the uses of revenue sharing. So I, I don't see it any other way but that. Why do the Democrats do well in Oregon? I think the Democrats did well in Oregon because by and large they fueled better candidates than the Republicans.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71451/file/157404#t=1183.09,1227.6
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71451/file/157404/transcript/90058/annotation/24
Speaker 1: Bob, what's this going to mean for a legislative program? The Democrats are slightly stronger in the Senate, but on the other hand, they no longer are in a position of having to... Position themselves against the president in terms of the next election for him. He isn't running again and conversely he isn't going to have to try to position himself against the Democrats in the Congress for his partisan advantage. So I think even though we lost a couple seats in the Senate, it's going to be about a standstill, and that means it's still uphill for the president for most of his programs because with the exception of revenue sharing, he was not very successful in the last Congress in getting most of what he wanted. They're looking at the possibility of denying somebody a germanship on the minority side where it's not that significant. We're talking about, we're talking about denying somebody being a rake in the name of faith and frustration. And if there's any single theme to the mail that I've had over the four years that I have been there, it's the average person that's trying to get some kind of a determination from the veterans. I'm going to turn it over to Bill to open it up. Is true. It is absolutely in the interest of this country and it is beneath, and even politicians have a very low standard, but that is beneath the standard that they tolerate. We've got enough peeping and spying in this country about political parties starting to spy on each other. I don't think anything in this campaign has irritated me so much as that single act, if it's true. After that, and I remember talking to you about the Republican leader, two or three days after he was, and Scott and I came to the table and we said, had we been in the position of the President, assuming he had told us, our reaction just like that would have been to demand an intervention of your own, and then just cut out everybody that had any connection with it at all, and say that is not going to be tolerated in this administration. Anybody that had a connection with or any obligation of a connection with it has been thrown out.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71451/file/157404#t=1237.489,1379.22
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71451/file/157404/transcript/90058/annotation/26
Speaker 14: I think the industry has a life-regulating set that's a circulation of the world. It may be fairly constant over a period of time, and I have a feeling it can be more than five years. We all have to recognize that. Find out more about the environment, get more native knowledge about our environment, learn more about our knowledge of the technology of food and water, and listening to the other morphing from at war. We legitimately should provide and change our requirements for the new knowledge that we gained in its effect on the environment. So industry and all of us will be faced with some changes through the years in the regulations.
