Northeast Portland is home to the Grotto, a national Catholic sanctuary that celebrates the holiday season with a mix of light and music. The Grotto is expecting more than 50,000 visitors this season, many of whom enjoy nightly concerts in the nearby chapel. The Festival of Lights runs nightly through December 30, although it's closed on Christmas Day. It's located off Sandy Boulevard at 85th Avenue in Portland. Admission is $4.50 for adults, $3 for children ages 3 through 12. Just north of Salem, entire neighborhoods are aglow during Kaiser's Miracle of Christmas.
