Downs escaped from the prison July 11th and was recaptured 11 days later in a house four blocks away. Also testifying today was the prison superintendent Robert Shidler. He says he told the hearing officer that Downs is an extreme risk for another escape. And he recommended Downs be held in segregation for at least three years. Now the hearing office has three days to make his recommendation to Corrections Director Michael Franke. And Franke has 10 days to make a final decision. Meanwhile, Shidler says Downs will remain in close supervision for another 30 to 60 days. There, she is not allowed to wear her own clothes or have any personal belongings. If Downs moves into segregation, she will have her own clothes and belongings, but she will still have no contact with other inmates and will spend almost all her time in a prison cell. But the exact nature of that action will not be made public until next week. On another subject. Downs herself has not yet commented on reports that she plans to marry the man who allegedly harbored her during the escape. Prison officials say she is off limits to reporters for the time being. Others invest socially, thinking they can help shape a company's policy by buying into the corporation and making their voices heard. There is one negative about making socially responsible investments. Some financial advisors will discourage investors from doing it. Because SRIs limit your scope of investments and lessen your chances for a good return. And the fact that social issues are fluid forces an investor to be flexible. So socially responsible investments are not for everyone. But whatever the negatives, more people are buying the idea and feeling good about where their money is going and what it's doing to their pocketbooks.
