An amazing difference from its earlier beginnings. What started as a dusty collection of artifacts has become Oregon's most popular multi-million dollar science museum. OMSI was a dream in the early 40s that struggled through years of relocations and name changes. When it had to leave the Hasselhoff House near the Lloyd Center, the Oregon Museum Foundation found this property in the park. Lease on the land was a dollar a year. A major fundraising effort was started. The idea of a barn raising project made it work.
