And since torching people's clothing with just a glance makes it tough to keep a low profile, it's not surprising that by the time she was five, the feds were on Charlie's tail. These government agents lurk around in dark sedans wearing dark suits and dark expressions. And they're on orders to make Charlie an experimental guinea pig in the nation's top secret research lab. That pretty much sets the scene and sparks the action in Stephen King's Firestarter, the latest in a long line of horror movies, from the man who brought us such light diversions as Carrie, Cujo, and Christine. Well, this time the lead character is a bit more serene. When Charlie McGee gets fired up, her eyes open wide, blow dryers begin lofting her hair, then ready, aim, fire. Cars explode in a blaze of glory, and the bad guys become cowering infernos. In fact, it's the pyrotechnic displays more than the storyline that holds Firestarter together. Daddy. Drew Barrymore from E.T. Plays Charlie McGee, the nicest human torch you'll ever hope to meet. And while Firestarter's plot never really catches fire on the screen, it's worth sitting through just to see the world's largest use of kerosene and fire extinguisher. Well, this makes you want to get out and fish a little bit. You know, there's a lot going on now, and the rivers are going back down. We're going to get a little shot at those spring salmon, it looks like before season closes. Also, there's some other things happening around that you might want to do. I was over at the archery shop this morning and they had just gotten back to the 84 hunting regulations. You might want to take a look, stop by and take a look at those at some of your retail outlets. Now there's no copies of those available for you to have yet, but you can find out when the seasons are right now if you're thinking about planning a vacation to go hunting this fall. There's a lot of flurry around the archery shop. Everybody's getting their bowls and arrows already, and everybody's going out and doing a little bit of target practicing, so there's going to be some archery hunting this fall for sure. One of the things that we don't think about too much when we're out fishing is is there any way to make any money doing this? You bet there is. I'll tell you a way to make some money. The guys that keep track of world record fishing records are right here in this book. This is the International Game Fishers Association, and what they do is keep track of tracks of all the records all over the world on game fish that are caught. So if you want to set a world record, all you have to do is drop these guys a line, get a copy of this book, study up on it. It's not all as easy as it sounds. You have to have the girth and the length of the fish, you have to weigh it on measured registered scales, you have to keep track of the piece of leader that you catch the fish on and send it in. So it gets quite complicated. But if you really wanted to set a world record, you could make some money. There's one tackle company that makes a line that'll give you a thousand dollars if you're using their line when you set a world record. There's a whole bunch of vacant spaces in this book. Right in this body of water right here behind me, right in the middle of Eugene, there could be a world record crappie if you caught it on the right size line. There's all kinds of interesting things about setting world records fishing. That's just another aspect of all the things we do outdoors.
