I understand the water's right up in the trees and some houses over on the coast. I've heard that the duck hunting's not very good either. I haven't been out, but I understand that we still don't have a lot of ducks in the valley. Here a week before Christmas, I think it's by some divine hand that everything gets out of shape and leaves us a couple of days to do our Christmas shopping. It's easy to shop for a sportsman. If you've got a sportsmen in your family you wanna shop for, what a perfect place to do it except a hunting shop or a fishing shop. You can go out and buy all kinds of neat things from a $3,000 guided trip right down to a stocking stuffer. How about some gift ideas like a pair of wool gloves with the fingers out so you can wear them in fishing cold weather but you can still tie knots. How about a nice reel, steel head reel? I don't know of a dad that wouldn't like to wake up Christmas morning and find a nice reel like that in his stocking. Everything's not made out of metal that we fish with. How about a nice book? Dad would like to curl up with a nice look on these days when the rivers are all out of shape like they are now. Or even a nice painting painted by one of our local artists here in town. Whatever it is that you're shopping for, you can find it for a sportsman and it doesn't take long or doesn't have to cost a lot. I sure hope old Santa Claus is watching. And I hope the water goes back down so we can get out there and catch a couple of those steelhead. This is Terry Coleman for iWinnie Sports out doing his Christmas shopping.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70496/file/156442#t=269.32,362.23
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70496/file/156442/transcript/86475/annotation/14
Speaker 9: The building is county surplus and that in itself is fitting. I do indeed think it's time for a westerner to budget when under Ronald Reagan's plan we're called upon to spend one trillion six hundred billion dollars. It's not enough for Democrats to complain. We have to offer alternatives and I do. We need to move toward a balanced budget. We need to change the policies of the Federal Reserve Board to permit a slow, steady growth of the money supply to get interest rates down and keep them down. We need promote cooperation rather than confrontation between business, labor, and government. We need invest more, not less in education, very costly arms rates. I don't see how we can expect to balance the budget and have enough left over in public and private funds to educate our children, to pay our medical bills, to build new homes, to provide the services and facilities that the civilized society should when we are spending $1,600,000,000 on military matters. That's Ronald Reagan's budget for the next five years for the military. $1 trillion, $600 billion, more than we can afford, more than we.
