Maybe we can forget that incident when we won a battle, 10 or 15 or 20 or 30 in a row. But not against every day, but just against the fears. I think if we would have played our very best, I think we'd still lose. In fact, I'm sure we do, because Southern Cal's performance that night was the best of any team that we have seen in our three years out here, maybe in all our years in coaching. They were so perfect, not only in their execution, but their hustle, and Bob Boyd was so perfect in his preparation. I think there were nine jump balls in that game, and we didn't come close to getting our hand on any of those jump balls. When they had a little trouble early in the game, he took two timeouts, just the perfect time to make sure we didn't get off to any kind of a run on them and they dominate us. And yet thinking of a young team struggling, playing poorly, not hustling real hard, how do you get out of the game only losing by 15 or 16 or whatever it was to a team that good. I don't understand those two things aren't really compatible in my mind. We took very fine shots, we played good defense, and we completely controlled the tempo of a ball game. And the key to being a great basketball team is being able to slow down when you want to slow it down. And I envision a year or two years from now, in 20 of our 25 games, we will slow down, for either the last two minutes of the game or the last seven or eight minutes of a game. And this was the first time we could really do this effectively, and we did it because Ronnie Lee played within himself so very well. And I felt Mark Barwick completely dominated the other four players out on the floor playing for Oregon. And I think that's great when you can have someone that just takes over and runs the show. And Mark definitely was the person who put that glue into our team on Saturday. And finally, it was so gratifying to see the whole team participate in it. And only six guys played. You get tired of me telling you how our team is what wins games. I do not believe there needs to be annual sessions, take it from me and my view for whatever it's worth. And what we're going to lose if you go to annual sessions are what I call the citizen legislator that's done so much for us in the state of Oregon for so long. But let me best describe it in a way that you, I think, can understand. A citizen legislate has a job or a profession or manages whatever it might be and has one foot in the outside world, the real world, the world that you and I live in. And then he takes that knowledge. And that background into the legislature. And so he has at least some strength to the outside world and some hope and touch reality. A full-time professional legislator never gets to the outside world, never has that broad diversity of experience that you find in an Oregon legislative process. And I believe, very firmly, that if you were going to be let down the annual session trail, that Oregon would lose something extremely valuable to us. And I think we've already proven it.
