Our senior fullback is back and starting to have a real good year after early season injuries. Larry Logan, another fullback, is the second leading rusher on the team and he is doing an excellent job. Chris Moiner, our tight end is. Nationally ranked receiver. He's averaging five catches a game. Art Warner's only caught two balls from his wide receiver position, or 10 passes from his white receiver position. But six of them have been for touchdowns so he's a pretty dangerous threat. Defensively we've got Cody Jones is probably going to be the key to this game. He is a six foot six, 245 pound defensive tackle who would probably be the keys to our pass rush against Dan Fouts. How about your injury situation? Well, Cody Jones has just recovered from a knee injury. He played about half the game against New Mexico, and it appeared that he's ready to go. Dale Knott had a hamstring earlier in the season, but he's appeared to shake that off. The first surveyors that came through here carved on the face of the tree and drove wood stakes into the ground. Wood stakes rotted under a very short period of time. However, the carvings that they carved on the trees did remain. This particular carving came from out in the Vanita, No-Tie area, and it shows the BT, which is rather legible, which stood for the bearing tree. This particular one was carved in about 1854, and in 1971, we replaced this with a brass cap set in concrete. Then as we progressed, we got into the gun barrel era, and we have some gun barrels on the wall there. The lower gun barrel was a black or oxygen-shaped gun barrel, which was estimated to have been set in about 1890 out in the River Road area. Then in 1910, I believe it was, the center gun barrel set. The reason this is important is that I want to see this program through and part of the Oregon law and constitution in time for next year's school budget so they don't have to return to the property tax for one more year, get it done quickly, get approval of it, and next year the meaningful property tax relief has finally arrived that No one believes the Oregon legislation will ever do. Yes, it's my hope that we will be able to work through the legislative process quickly enough so that then if it's necessary to have a vote of the people to have it during the session, and if it happens during the sessions, we'll know that it means property tax relief for 1973, or we go back to the drawing boards and come up with something that probably then would be delayed until the following year. And let's take the automotive manufacturers, for example, if it costs $500 in terms of control equipment to reduce automotive emissions by 90 percent. Would it be reasonable to expect one automobile manufacturer to voluntarily install that equipment on the cars he's selling and raise the cost of his cars by $500, as competitive as the automotive industry is? The public is also unwilling to voluntarily install control equipment. So it took legislation to do this and that's what the Clean Air Act of 1967 did which was implemented in 1970 with the Clean Air Amendments.
