Well, I think there's been a slight numerical shift on the council, but it's been a fairly significant one in terms of the council's attitude toward neighborhood groups. And I don't think there is any question that the current council is slightly less friendly toward neighborhood groups than the former one. It's true that neighborhood groups tend to have a strong stake in the residential quality of an area. Now, if you are a someone who has an interest in getting some commercial zoning or or multiple family construction in a neighborhood, you may not necessarily find the neighborhood group allied with you. People were anxious to sign. Of course, there were people that were fluorofluoride, and we didn't try to encourage them to sign because I think, generally speaking, people had their minds made up one way or the other. A few people were, say, on the fence, but not too many. And I would say that people were enthusiastic. They really wanted to sign! I want to keep track of our three leaders. Your group is called Citizens for Pure Water? Yeah, try it. I'll just make it beyond. May 24th. Okay, I guess the 14th and the 18th. Oh, February 14th is on this Friday. Right. So it was 14th. And we had to have them complete. Have you seen any change in the age of people that are coming to you? Yes, people that are younger, within their 20 years of age, up to 30, are coming back more than they were before. I think are interested in getting back together in dancing. Eighty percent of our people are coming to touch dancing and wanting to get back together in their dancing because I think that they have danced long enough apart. It's nice to know that people are trying to get closer together through ballroom dancing, and it's also a nice form of exercise. It's spring break for students here at the University of Oregon, but administrators and planners in Johnson Hall are working with facts and figures about enrollments and financial projections to see if there's going to be any school left when the students come back from vacation. Ken Strobeck, Eyewitness News at the university of Oregon. Union members have been on strike for nine days here at the Bohemia Lumber Company at Culp Creek. Their demand to have Kenner Peterson reinstated has not been met, and they say they may resort to picketing other Bohemia plants. Pat Boyle, eyewitness news at Culp creek. We have gone through the budget in kind of an item by item way to find those particular places where there might be someone who is on a visiting basis or who might be retiring or resigning and in doing all of this we have come up with approximately a million dollars if we have to take that deep a cut. The poet of learning is a friendlier model than the more traditional classroom-oriented... So that what's happening is some people who might have hoped for future reappointment will have those hopes. We're waiting for the company to get their position to move at this particular time. We anticipate a quick end of the strike. I can only hope that there will be a quick end of the strike, yes. Well, honey makes a very, very good substitute. It's very readily available in the community in a number of specialty stores now, as well as supermarkets. And what you can do is just try using half as much honey as you would refined sugar. There are a lot of cookbooks available that give specific recipes for using whole grains and honey instead of refined food. No, anything you want about this baby. I've got the wheels. Yeah, well, no. Uh... No i don't think it ever will actually our business has improved as the animals have become scarce because people feel that uh... They should take care of the animal that they do get uh... Because they may not get another one quite that nice The stress that parents really should make their children aware of cleaning compounds, cleaning agents, and also drugs and poisons around the home. You know, that they shouldn't take medicine without their parents knowing about them. And if they do get sick, you know, they should inform their parents. And the parents should give them the right amount of medicine and also the right kind of medicine. I would think that kind of like our Monday afternoon session in this conference room, we're going to have to at least reach some minimal amount of agreement as to direction for you. In the future, that any situation involving a police officer shooting a civilian or a citizen, we will do the following two things. That there will be an independent investigative team doing the investigation, and that there will always be a jury of inquest convened so that six citizens can decide whether or not the shooting was justifiable in accordance with the state law or not. We will also be running a clinic in Eugene tomorrow at 399 East 10th. Due to the fact that there's spring break, we can't have any school clinics this week. We will re-evaluate the situation and see if there's a need for any clinics next week at the school. Do you think the break may help stop the lethal spread? I would like to think so. The kids won't be in school so they won't be spreading it from one to the other. The disease is communicable and spread through air droplets so that if kids are in a classroom it's very easy to spread it. Railroad track maintenance is a continual job. Southern Pacific here in Eugene is always busy replacing rail, ties, and even roadbed. These cars were carrying ties that today are being laid on the Coos Bay branch. More than 1,000 are being put down every day. That helps a lot, that way I don't have to worry about the car wash, he can rinse it all by himself and I don't have any problems. Customer's thing. They enjoy him quite a bit they uh think it's a great deal is he making good money yeah sometimes i wish i was doing what he was doing he's making more than i am sometimes You can buy it over the counter in most drug stores. It's called EPT, or in-home early pregnancy test, and it's the latest thing in do-it-yourself medicine. If a woman thinks she might be pregnant, she can buy this little kit and perform a simple test on herself to find out. She can do all this without ever seeing a doctor. When you get the drop, you should max up the dropping into the retention, and then you end the urine dripping into the water. Now, this goes in here. So now it's only a one-time use. Right. If you don't get it right. I am not sure about the reliability of these pregnancy tests and I am also concerned about somebody finding out they are pregnant and not having somebody qualified to be able to discuss what they want to do about the pregnancy. It's Weyerhaeuser's new salmon fish hatchery. It represents an investment of $7 million for the company, and it could mean $20 million a year for Oregon's economy. It's worth about $10,000 daily. It's coming up on Eyew Witness News tonight at six. Scenes like this are common all over the Eugene Springfield area today, the result of last night's freezing rain. When the rain hit the branches of many trees, it froze immediately, and the weight was too much for some limbs that came crashing to the ground. The cold weather also produced serious power outages. In many locations, branches fell across power lines, eliminating electric service. In other areas, the freezing rain snapped the power line. The first thing they should do is call the Eugene Water and Electric Board and tell us that their power is out and that there is a limb across the line. It's really helpful to us to know where the, if it's a broken line or a limb on the line, where that is. And so if a person knows that, they should tell us. Then the next thing they do is stay away from it and not get anywhere near it. If there's a power line that is falling on a car or on a tree branch or. Not to get anywhere near that because those things can be deadly. He took my ID, he took my checkbook, he took all my money. I didn't even have a dime to make a phone call. He oppressed.
