Anyways, I hope you're enjoying the fruits and labor of 4th of July weekend. Here we go. Great fruit this week on watermelon, cantaloupe out of California, 15 cents a pound on watermelon, 29 to 39 on cantaloupe, seedless grapes, peaches, nectarines, all wonderful. Prices dropping down, 59 cents for peaches and nectarines. Locally, cherries finally coming in out of Washington, about $1.29 a pound, bean cherries, wonderful. Strawberry season, about near the end, but the strawberries have been great. Raspberry seasons on us now. I love raspberries. They're my very, very, very, very favorite fruit. About a dollar a basket, and the raspberries are wonderful. Over in the vegetable department, tomatoes out of California, wonderful for salads right now. Cherry tomatoes and large tomatoes, 69 to 89 cents on baskets of tomatoes, about 59 to 79 cents a pound on large tomatoes. Corn, sweet corn is going to be a little high this week, about three for a dollar or even higher. Cori is in short supply, but the corn is wonderful. Has avocados, big, rich, buttery avocados, about 49 cents a piece. They're wonderful. Red potatoes for potato salad running about 39 cents a pound. Prices are up, potatoes are in short supply. Michael Jackson's favorite vegetable, beat it, sorry it beets. Fresh beets finally coming in out of California, about 79 cents a bunch. Great for borscht or great on salads. A couple new items locally, the snow pea clop is coming in. And the sugar snap pea. If you've never had local sugar snap peas, they are absolutely delicious. They look just like a pea in the pod, only they're completely edible. You eat the whole thing, and they're sweet and they're wonderful. I suggest you try them. Anyways, have a good, safe holiday. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
