Lahr who runs a timber importing business with his wife Beverly out of their home in Eugene's South Hills says his attackers pulled alongside this small red Toyota and fired several shots. One of the shots struck him in foot, another blew out a tire and forced Lahr off road. A former national collegiate wrestling champion, Lahr says he overpowered his middle-aged attackers when they came to finish him off. He seized a handgun and turned it on his alleged assailants, killing one of the men and wounding the other. Since the incident, Lahr has been detained in a Honduran hospital while local officials investigate. He and Beverly expected the process to take 10 days, but it's now at three weeks and dragging on slowly. The Lahrs speculate their Honduran business partner, Victor paused, was behind the attack. They also suspect he's orchestrating current attempts to make it appear Dean was involved in some sort of illegal activity with the men who shot him.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71110/file/157061#t=68.43,131.73
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71110/file/157061/transcript/88543/annotation/2
Speaker 2: It appeared that he was involved with the car in which they were driving at the time that they found the car was registered in his name.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71110/file/157061#t=132.97,140.65
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71110/file/157061/transcript/88543/annotation/3
Speaker 3: We feel like he is trying to organize some sort of attempt to make it look like Dean knew these men before, that there was some problem between them.
