The Oregonian urged the public keep the pressure on the Senate and those it characterized as cowardly for failing to step forward in support of the sales taxes. The editorial was particularly critical of Senate President Edward Fadley, who it charged is abusing the power of his office to deny the sales-tax a fair hearing. Secondly, he points out, the Senate has passed a bill to increase the home owner relief program about $5 a thousand in assessed value.
