Green River detectives searched the 38-year-old man's home after Spokane police reported he kept meticulous records, and they also suspected a possible Green River connection. Four members of the task force also searched his parents' home. The 40-page document filed to get the search warrant was released. Here are some of the allegations police made to obtain the warrant. An informant is quoted as saying the man told him in 1982 he was mad at prostitutes because they were showing high rates of AIDS. Another informant said the man said of prostitues he would like to cut them up and kill them and sometimes while posing as a police officer tortured them but quote only in the of duty. A third informant said the man talked often about Ted Bundy and called him brilliant. The man had a collection of 50 photographs, all of nude women, known prostitutes, some in sexually explicit poses. He also had a selection of police badges and complete Seattle and Portland police uniforms. The task force then tried to place the man in areas where the women were killed. No definite connection could be made to 13 of the victims, but in 22 others the man can be placed in the area where women were murdered. For example, he was in Tigard, Oregon when the bodies of Green River victims Denise Bush and Shonder Summers were found, and in Seattle when Cynthia Hines and Opal Mills disappeared. Green River task force captain Bob Evans is cautious about talking about the man as a suspect.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71294/file/157246#t=12.45,107.72
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71294/file/157246/transcript/88597/annotation/2
Speaker 2: Brian, I'd like to give you a direct yes or no answer, but I just don't know. Throughout the Clatskineye Valley northwest of Portland, pasture land is being leased to the James River Corporation, plowed up, and planted in cottonwood trees. The Simpson Timber Company and Louisiana Pacific have similar operations on the West Coast and in Central America, where they're test growing eucalyptus and other fast growing hardwoods. The fiber farm will supply hardwood chips to James River's pulp and paper mill just down the road in Juana, but the company still worries about its softwood chip supply. Set asides for spotted owls and wilderness have created a tight chip market. James River can get out of forestry and into agriculture, but they can't seem to escape from endangered species. They've had to fence some of their fields because the Columbia whitetail deer was eating the tops off the new plantings. But with that problem solved, they can count on a guaranteed supply of hardwood chips from crop after crop on the fiber farm.
