I mean, I want to wear my Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses, and I got to wear this because I don't know. But I've got good news and bad news, and I'm going to tell you the good news first. Vegetables are generally good news, particularly local stuff and vegetables out of California. Broccoli, corn, carrots, green peppers, cucumbers, green onions, radishes, all these vegetables coming in now. Very good quality and very good prices. The wet weather isn't affecting them at all. Best buy this week, produce-wise, it's a great week for a salad. Head lettuce is low as three for a dollar. Local lettuce, same price, and green onions and radishes out of eastern Oregon coming in, round out a nice fresh veggie salad. Now, fruit isn't as fortunate. Locally, this wet weather is causing havoc with the strawberries. The growers hate this because this wet weather causes the strawberries to go bad, so we need some dry weather. What it's also causing problems with the cherries, because when the cherries get ripe locally, the rain makes them swell and split. So if we continue to have wet weather, we'll have a problem with those two crops. Out of California, the weather has been a little better, and we're seeing some wonderful tree fruit coming in right now. Apricots, peaches, plums, nectarines. Prices are dropping with particularly good buys on plums and peaches. Grapes coming in right now, very sweet, very good, about a dollar and a half a pound. But the best buy this week is probably cantaloupes. Thick meated, sweet, juicy out of California, as low as twenty-eight cents a pound. So what I suggest you do is make a nice lettuce salad and put a couple cantaloupes in the middle. Hoping it stops raining. For eyewitness news, I'm Terry Potassium.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70753/file/156702#t=827.5,925.39
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70753/file/156702/transcript/87460/annotation/28
Speaker 14: Jack Gates started the 3G Lumber Company 35 years ago with his father and brother. The Downs made a conscious choice to murder her daughter and shoot her other two children. Hughie said, just think how close she came to pulling it off. And he admonished Downes for telling different stories to cover up her crimes. Jurors were told to think about the victims, Danny and Christy, and the overwhelming evidence that the state says cooperates its case against Downs. Pointing at the 28-year-old mother, Hughie said, That's a sick person there, a very warped, superficial person. And he reminded them of Downes' reaction to the song played in court. Christy Downs says hungry like a wolf was playing when her mother shot her. And in one final rally for the prosecution, Hughie instructed the jury to make it clear they won't let Downs off scot free. He said, Let's send her a message. Look, lady, you're not going to get away with it because we're not buying it. Your stories just don't cut it. Staring jurors squarely and glancing at Downs, Hughie wrapped up with, You're a murderer, a cold blooded, cruel, vicious murderer. With that, the jury went to deliberate Downs' case.
