Well, that's kind of a silly question. Well, this being the opening of general trout season, I'm gonna be right out there on the river trying to catch a fish or two. But there's gonna be a lot of people out there this weekend. So let me tell you a couple of things that I think that you should know about opening weekend of trout season. Number one, have you got your license? If you haven't, you better run by and pick them up. And when you do, pick up a copy of the Oregon sports fishing regulations. You're gonna need them fishing in Oregon this year. There's some new regulations out and you need to know about them. This you don't have to sit down and read this entire book. All you have to do is figure out where you're gonna fish and what you're gonna fish for, and it takes a couple of seconds to look up in here and make sure you're legal. If you're out on the stream and got your little book with you, and you see somebody breaking the law, walk over with your little book and talk to him nicely and tell him that he's breaking in law. And if he's doing it unintentionally, help him out to do it right. If he's doing it intentionally, all you gotta do is dial the operator and get a hold of the state police, and that'll keep somebody from running mine and you're fishing both. Where are you gonna fish this weekend? Well, the McKinsey's got a lot of fish in it, and they've done a lot of planning here. One of the things I found out this morning is the Cascade Lake Highway is open, and you're gonna be able to fish wicki up, Crane Prairie, North and South, Twin, the upper dischutes, and that whole string of high lakes up through that area. So that might be a place for you to take into consideration going. Wherever you go, remember there's gonna be a lot of people out there. You're gonna have to be patient and by all means. All the time be a good sport. At best, the structure has about 10 or 20 years left in it. On top of that, the old bridge provides access to some prime timber land on the south side of the Mackenzie River. Timber industry representatives claim the 30-ton limit on the Good Pasture Bridge makes it more expensive to haul that timber out. So for the last five years, county planners have been trying to figure out what to do. One plan has been to build a brand new bridge over Bear Creek Rapids upstream from Good Pasture. The county staff was ready to go ahead with that plan last year until the commissioners decided at the last minute that the new bridge would be unsafe for boaters. Today, a revised plan for the new bridge met the same fate, as the commissioners opted to rebuild the Good Pasture Bridge instead.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70747/file/156696#t=679.03,720.95"},{"id":"https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70747/file/156696/transcript/87602/annotation/30","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"\u003cstrong\u003eSpeaker 15:\u003c/strong\u003e That's gonna get the logs out, it's gonna get the people over there, and it's gonna last for another fifty years. One involves money. The city's 1983 audit suggests that EWEB may owe the city as much as $8 million. The Portland accounting firm that worked on the audit says EWEB owes the city for revenues collected on its share of the Trojan nuclear power plant and for revenues from its water system. EWeb pays the city what's known as in lieu of taxes. The matter is now being negotiated. The second issue is a turf battle. The last legislature revised the public contracting law, allowing local governments to establish their own contract review boards. So now the city of Eugene wants e-web to consider a joint purchasing agreement. At least one e-web commissioner, Jack Craig, sees that as a first step towards a city takeover of the utility. I forgot about it. Now it's antelope hunting season, and I'm not gonna get one this year. Well, I stood here and told you about a month or so ago if you'd apply for a turkey tag, maybe you could go out and get a turkey. I got one. I applied with the application that I showed you on television, I killed a 19-pound Tom turkey over in eastern Oregon. Now then there's another hunt deadline coming up. So listen, if you're gonna hunt antelope in the state of Oregon this year, if you're gonna go over into Steens Mountain and try to kill you a bighorn sheep, you're gonna have to apply for a tag. If you're gonna go over and try to kill yourself a cougar, you're gonna have to apply for a tag, and the applications have to be in before midnight tonight. So you're gonna have to run down there and get one, fill it out, and make sure you fill it out complete. Take it to the post office and make sure that it gets postmarked before midnight tonight. If you go out there in the woods and kill one of these, be really careful while you're out there hunting. I know this time of the year, with all the fishing going on, it's tough to think about these things, and that's why I'm reminding you about it. If you want to go fishing this weekend, do it. Anywhere you've been thinking about going fishing, the fishing's improving and picking up. We've had some good weather to make all the fishing good. Any place I can think of to go, the fishing's good this weekend. So get out there, catch yourself a couple of fish, and remember to be a good sport.
