Finally, out-of-state produce item of the week this week are cantaloupes, as low as $0.25 a pound. Make sure they're California cantaloupe. The Texas cantalupes don't have the flavor because of the heat wave that they have there. Looking at the local vegetable market this week, we see some beautiful green chard, red spuds, Cukes, zucchini, yellow squash, corn out of Washington with no ash damage, green onions, leeks, and beets, all coming in locally, very moderately priced, as well as lettuce and other salad greens. And finally, the produce item of the week this week are Walla Walla sweet onions. These tasty little babies are available only about two months of the year. Excellent mild sweet onion.
