For them, it might ultimately decide Michael Kell's innocence or guilt. Jurors received transcripts to help them understand what was said by Kell that night in Santa Barbara. He was read his rights by Springfield police. Kell chose to forego them and talk. He was questioned on January 20th by Sergeant Steve Egater and Sergeant Jerry Smith about how Robert Harris was killed. In testimony today, police say Kel told them he and T.J. Poulton stole a dynamite that would eventually become the murder weapon. He admitted he went along with Barbara Harris and Terry White the night the dynamite was tested before the murder, but claims he had no knowledge of the murder. On the tape, Kel says, I wasn't the one that came up with the idea. You know, mastermind the whole deal or expect any money. All I did was tell someone how to do something, and I wasn't telling anyone how to kill anybody. I was just telling them how to make a blasting cap go off. Kel says, I myself am no judge as to whether someone should die or not. Like I said, all I did was tell someone how to do something. Police asked Kel if the killing had bothered him since then. According to the tape, Kel says yes. Telling you about it isn't going to make me feel any better. The only thing that would is if I could go back and undo it, because then I wouldn't have nothing to do with anybody dying. The officer also testified Kell told them how easy it was to hook up the dynamite to Harris' car. But his defense claims he had no knowledge of what was ultimately going to happen. Police testified Kell helped carry the dynamites to Harris's car on the night of December 2nd. Kell allegedly said Barbara Harris supplied the key to her husband's car. With no money of their own to speak of, parks officials have come up with a unique idea of approaching the Adidas shoe company about donating the money for a new trail. Now, Eugene is known not only for being the track capital of the world. But it's also generally known as an area dominated by Nike shoe company. But in the past few years Adidas has tried to change all that. Adidas raised some hackles last year when they offered to contribute money toward a proposed track facility at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field. That facility is backed primarily by former track coach and Nike founder Bill Ballermann. And the current track coach Bill Dellinger has a personal contract with Did you see this? Now there's an interesting hook. Dellinger and the city want to call the track the Oregon Trail and hope to convince Adidas to build a series of Oregon trails in cities across the country.
