I think the statistics pro prove that, show that. In terms of fire deaths and dollar losses were extremely low for the population. So fire awareness is I guess you could say is high, but it has to be higher. We've just got to go farther. We lose thousands and thousands of dollars worth of property and goods every year. Cooking fires, a lot of a lot of grease fires in the home, as a matter of fact, the vast majority of them never get reported to the fire department. But if you talk to insurance companies, you'd find that that this is one of the very major causes of fire. And it only takes just a few seconds to go from something you can put out in your home to something you can't. The best the very best extinguisher for a grease fire is the pan, the lid that fits the pan. And if you get in the habit of getting this out when you get the pan out, you've got it made. Now I'm gonna you might step back. I'm gonna start a small fire here. Normally they don't start this way. You have quite a quite a fire, quite a lot of heat, and you just hold the pan between you and the fire and slide it across. The fire smothers, there's no oxygen here. When you smothered that fire, turn the heat off and just step away. Go call a friend on the phone and tell them about your need experience, but let that pan cool. Don't move it, don't touch it. To say the last few weeks were hectic is supreme understatement. The concert started with the grand opening of the Holt Center on Friday, September 24th, and continued through that weekend with three performances for the Eugene Ballet. Last Saturday, the group shared the program with entertainer songwriter Marvin Hamlish, holding down the entire first half by itself. That concert, filled with medleys and movie themes, a salute, and a fanfare, was where the strain showed the most. The group had had only about five hours spread out over the past month of rehearsals to prepare those numbers. The lack of concentrated rehearsal time produced occasional sour notes, some poor interpretations, and a few almost incoherent passages. One option, says manager Jim Reeves, is to avoid having all the orchestra members playing in all the concerts. Some of the musicians could perhaps take a bye in the pop series with the ballet or in the opera orchestra to help cut back on commitment to rehearsal and performance time. The question is whether those stopgap measures would last for the long term. With the symphony in a state of flux, it may only be a matter of time before the administration reevaluates the orchestra's goals and objectives and looks for more professional development and commitment.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70455/file/156401#t=2167.17,2261.22
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70455/file/156401/transcript/86982/annotation/58
Speaker 27: Probably the biggest stories this week had to do with the five nuclear power plants of the Washington public power supply system.
