The city I worked for was comparable in size, and I think size is the real determinant in problems and solutions in a way in government like this. So I don't expect any big surprises. Thank you. We need a raise! We love you! I think we're allowed to without a proof of that. Hey, that's me! So high, like a diamond in the sky. Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are. And you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey, and you turn yourself around. That's what it's all about, all about! You put your tummy... We interact with the community. The community does a lot for us with our temporary help service, and we like to return the favor sometimes, and this is just one way we can. I wonder and until I resolve the situation with her, I will... ...Possible to the public for the operation of privacy. We get reminded of that every time there's open relationship between... This policy board will, of course, demand full counting of all of the activities at a public meeting for our scrutiny after whatever LIWA problems are resolved, and that in no way should this be interpreted as a dodge. Okay, I would like to state for the record for any of the media that... Get a coffee milk! Get out of here! Whoa! Keep your eye on the school for the rest of the course, please. I don't know a lot about him, except he's got a good hindsight crotch. He's super strong, probably one of the strongest kids after Russell this year. And he really hasn't lost to anybody this year, except for Ryan. It's the nation's farmland that is causing the most concern among policy planners in Washington, and especially the prime farmland, like this acreage right here on the edge of Eugene. It's this study that they're going to base their future programs on. And so it's very important for the people to respond and get in their comments and their suggestions of the best way we can spend their tax dollars to take care of the conservation of the natural resources. Probably hear from the policy board on this because it's been a frustrating time, is since last November, the policy boards been trying to get regular meetings scheduled that we need to do in dealing with that situation, and I think the first one Yeah, it's a unique city and I'm very much aware of it. I have a brother that's lived here for a number of years and has pointed out to me why Eugene is better than Portland. Thank you very much. The key to beating inflation for one local family was found under this parking meter, and I do mean key. We were trying to buy a car, but couldn't really afford it. Now we'll have a car at least for a year. And we've always used furniture and that sort of thing. New clothes, we haven't been able to afford clothes for quite a while, you know. Actually the expense of doing business in the credit card area now because of the 15 percent user restriction in the state of Oregon that the cost of doing the business will be prohibited, prohibitive as far as the bank issuing cards like that for new business. We just had extra bulbs that we wanted to plant in front of our places and we just kept planting on up the road. Each neighbor helped out a bit. Why daffodils? Because they are hardy and come up through the grass and the stalks don't bother them too much and they keep multiplying and being beautiful in large. I intend to stay right here, let them try to spray. That would be in violation of BLM directives and perhaps against the law. That's very well true. I feel that there's a greater potential danger in BLM continuing to spray, and I'm willing to make that sacrifice. You're willing to go to jail? If I have to. Why this method? They haven't listened. We feel that. You have your beliefs, I respect your beliefs. Right now we don't have a definite policy, but we won't be sparing people. So we have our representative from the sheriff's department talking to them now and explaining what their rights are, what our rights are. And we're just going to have to see what happens. Do you feel that BLM should pursue a policy of perhaps getting an injunction to prevent people from delaying the spraying program? Well, I don't think we'd like to go that way, but if it becomes necessary, we might have to. The story here isn't so much about what did happen as much as what didn't happen. A small group of people who fear the hazards of herbicide spraying have blocked the spraying efforts of the Bureau of Land Management. Peter Murphy, I with this news, outside Lorraine. We're looking for came together in one spot and we decided to make the arrest. No, it really wasn't, it just happened that... We hope it'll make us a little more energy self-reliant, free up some electricity that can be used elsewhere, and perhaps revitalize our economy up here. We have an industrial park that is in the process of being developed, and we have two other mills that can take advantage of it, hopefully. What do you hear people saying about it? Very enthusiastic. The city council's told me to get working on this thing, and they want to know where I've been, why I haven't got the thing brought in yet. We'll be going out and finding people, if they're in the park, sleep on the bench. We'll very nicely wake them up and say, we need to have you be counted in the census. Because they're physically in Eugene and have to face the fact that the people on the park benches, maybe there's a program that the city has government funding from to help get them off the parkbenches, right? I think the biggest turnout. I wouldn't be here if I didn't talk. It's more of an ideal. I think this whole thing, where this money is coming from, in particular the million seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars from tax increment, tax increment means an increase in taxation. I think it's a very worthwhile public investment to match the private capital that is coming in here. I think that it's recognition that culture is part of an economic development venture. It's good, clean industry. I think the people of Eugene have shown that they will support this kind of activity. The money that's going to be in the serial levy and the bond issue, both, I think. There is money in the Serial Levy to start an education program on recycling at the Glenwood Solid Waste Center, which will encourage people to start recycling their waste. And there's also money in there to help handle these volumes of recyclables more efficiently. Goal in! Goal! That's a quote from Henry Miller. We just couldn't pass up. I mean we feel that way mainly I guess because the truth We have to tell has yet to be told you know and so Well, what makes you feel that you have something different to offer than, say, KZI or the Registered Guard? Well, it's hard to say. Because we don't really keep up with those two things too much. But basically, it's that there are things that we just don't see being done anywhere else that we want to do. I was told about this place by a friend, and it sounded so much more natural than the hospital, so I wanted to try it with this pregnancy. Do you find that it is more natural? Yes, much more. I can become more involved with the people. I care about who they are very intimately. The town itself becomes a second nature. I can walk downtown, and I feel like they're people that I know and I can say hi to. And it's almost an extended family with difficult relationships. We don't know, but on the basis of what we had, we can't understand why this guy would be put in on a misdemeanor. We feel that it was a very, very serious situation that he attempted to run us down and could have taken our lives that easily. You don't think it was an accident that he came that close to you? No. As soon as he went by us, I immediately thought he was out to kill us. I try to figure out whether it was an intentional act, whether he was intentionally trying to run over them. And the question you asked there is if he was intentionally trying hit somebody in a wheelchair, he probably would if he had a car. Or whether he's trying to terrorize them or menace them in some way with the vehicle. Whether his conduct was reckless or whether it's intentional. Yeah! They didn't think I could do it because I'm an old ground wire. Thank you. But I showed them. Now that 24 hours is over. Can you do it again? Sure. I don't know whether I can go right straight back and do it, but this is my second that I've did that and I've surprised them before. It isn't the young people that's all it's got, young ideas. The Great American Smokeout is just one day out of the whole year that you're being asked to put down that cigarette for your own good. And who knows, there's always something else you can pick up. Okay, room change on the lab, 137 Gilbert on Wednesday. Okay, you also have to sign up. This is another example of annexing and then rezoning. But here we have a case where the city already owned the property, and six or seven months later, they up-zone it for a zone that can't possibly be used up. I personally think it's just a matter of urban sprawl.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/69646/file/156059#t=83.51,2478.98"}]},{"id":"https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/69646/file/156059/transcript/86161","type":"AnnotationPage","label":{"en":["English [Transcript]"]},"items":[{"id":"https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/69646/file/156059/transcript/86161/annotation/2","type":"Annotation","motivation":"subtitling","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"https://d9jk7wjtjpu5g.cloudfront.net/file_transcripts/associated_files/000/086/161/original/trint_Coll427_fv475_transcript.vtt?1762203595","format":"text/vtt","language":"en"},"target":"https://d9jk7wjtjpu5g.cloudfront.net/file_transcripts/associated_files/000/086/161/original/trint_Coll427_fv475_transcript.vtt?1762203595"}]},{"id":"https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/69646/file/156059/index/51369","type":"AnnotationPage","label":{"en":["Coll427_FV475 [Index]"]},"items":[{"id":"https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/69646/file/156059/index/51369/annotation/3","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"coll427_fv475_26 Herbicides","format":"text/plain","label":{"en":["Title"]}}],"target":"https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/69646/file/156059#t=1164.0,1379.0"},{"id":"https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/69646/file/156059/index/51369/annotation/4","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"A man in a gas mask stands in a clear cut near Lorane to protest spraying of herbicides on BLM land.
