But because the Mackinzie is so popular, the river is planted by boat to distribute the fish more evenly. See you next week. This year, all of the 120,000 hatchery trout that will be planted in the McKenzie during the course of the season will have their ventral or belly fins clipped. Wild or native trout will not. That was threatening a fatal hemorrhage of the added revenue from business that has to make up for the money lost to individual tax cuts. So, Packwood is trying a totally different approach. Eliminate almost all personal deductions on the one hand. And on the other, tax individual income at just two rates, 15 and 25 percent. Corporate rates would fall too, but at the cost of losing many special preferences, including the timber industry's extra-low capital gains rate. If this seems like too much work, here's another possibility. Mow your grass and cover it with black plastic. The 6 mil lasts the longest. In a few weeks, the grass should die back enough to let a good rototiller turn it under. Well, one of the most common ways you fish for spring chinuk is with spinners. You're setting a sled, pick out a nice spot, right slot where the fish are gonna come up through there and set these spinners out behind the boat. It's kind of a boring type of fishing, you just set them out there and let them sit there. But you gotta have confidence in that spinner that you set out in the river here behind the boats. Now then, you talk about perfecting one specific type of fishing. There's a lot of these old timers that's done a lot of perfection here. The gear that they use is just a simple blade, a treble hook, and a few beads, a wire spreader, and a sinker. Now, you'd think that wouldn't be too complex. Just everybody would figure out what to use in a little while. Find you a good spot, you had a few springs, you know. Well, it's not quite that simple. I've got a box here in the boat that's probably got 350 or 400 spinner blades in it. That becomes very critical. The one I got in my hand here is half copper and it's half silver. The beads that I got on here, some of them come from real old spinner blades. Those are supposed to be some of the best kind. I have one bead on here that's an aurora borealis bead. It gives off some real weird kinds of light and dark water. And I use a fan wire hook, but you got to tie the butt of that hook down. Don't want it wobbling around or those springers won't ever hit it. I use a wire spreader. You can use all different kinds of lengths of spreaders. The leader can be way out there 18 inches long, but the drop can only be six inches. Or the drop could be a foot long, but you better have that leader out there two feet or them springers won't ever hit it. I think maybe the art of fishing spinners for spring chinook is just whatever you've got the confidence to sit there out behind a boat and wait all day for one spring chinuk to come up out of the ocean through that slot heading for the spawning grounds and grab that spinner in his mouth. I hope you hook a big one and have to keep your tip up.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70930/file/156881#t=2587.95,2707.81"}]},{"id":"https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70930/file/156881/transcript/88322","type":"AnnotationPage","label":{"en":["English [Transcript]"]},"items":[{"id":"https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70930/file/156881/transcript/88322/annotation/122","type":"Annotation","motivation":"subtitling","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"https://d9jk7wjtjpu5g.cloudfront.net/file_transcripts/associated_files/000/088/322/original/trint_Coll427_0954_transcript.vtt?1767981331","format":"text/vtt","language":"en"},"target":"https://d9jk7wjtjpu5g.cloudfront.net/file_transcripts/associated_files/000/088/322/original/trint_Coll427_0954_transcript.vtt?1767981331"}]}]}]}
