Because Washington's... The day where no news... The day no news good news for all those inflation fighters back east may be sometime off. But here in the supermarket... We're talking? You mean we're on? Inflation is definitely a weighty problem. It's been here a while. It's not going to go away overnight. It's even been known to drive inflation fighters in Washington a little bit crazy. I knew it was not going to come to me. It was going to happen. This wasn't going to be it. Yes, it was. It was not. It was It was It was It was It was It was It was I don't know if you can hear me. I don't know if I can hear you. I don't, I don, I don. I don't. I don't! I don! I don!' I don't know if we can hear you. I don,'t know I don.' I don I don't know. Thank you. And the board here at Moncern's Art Center had a meeting on Tuesday night. Could you just talk a little bit about what they resolved? Well, I made two proposals to the board about ways that we might solve the problems here at... That's the problem, if you could describe the problem. Uh, well, I don't know. Your problem go away. Well, the board Tuesday night took my recommendations that we cut staff. We're going to cut two, well actually two positions and I'm going to go on a volunteer basis for the summer. In addition to that, they have set a goal of $20,000 to raise by the 1st of August. I was very curious about how it was on the air, but it was not supportive of that. Thank you very much. I thought maybe it was close enough to answer. It's close enough. I'm feeling it. And it's close to the most important thing I've ever heard. I'll go to nearby people who would be interested. A lot of those folks are women on the street, and on the streets, and in factories. Water, water, water. Off of Canada. I've never come through here, I think. People in Frankville, for instance, they might do some shopping. When do they take you off the payroll? July 15th, I think it's the day. It's not just me. I know, I know. Oh, I can sit here all together. That sounds wonderful. I have a lot of commitment to this place for the moment, if I can call it. How old is my experience? 28 years. 28 years old. We haven't been here that long. But it's been Wayne County. OK. Mr. Krogh, what does this perspective tax exemption issue mean to you? $3,000 for this tax. They want to assess this. What about the argument from the city's point of view that if they give you the systems development tax deferral, they'll have to give it to every non-profit organization? Well, I don't think there would be that many nonprofits in the business of expansion. I don't think it's a matter of money. And we think it is fair to have an exemption on this. It certainly would be a great, I wish we had a lot of time. We'd talk about the tremendous service for all the handicapped folks in the community, children and adults. And maybe you can come back later sometime and we'll go into greater detail. Thank you. Thank you. I don't know. Yeah, say goodbye to you. I hope some people aren't seeing you, how you can eat too fast. That would be great. Ha ha ha ha I'm sorry. Thank you. Thank you very much. Let's go ahead and do one by one and be part of our show and stuff. Maybe I can just kind of go right there. Um, uh, we might go on. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! I'm going to grab a... We're going to get these big, dead holes. When you're going through the big holes, the big rapids, come in in the middle. You We have four members for the evening here. We would like to present Mrs. Giddy and her team for a service. So it is simple idea that we want to cooperate with you. We want you to plant these two and clear that area. Mr. Gidey, would you take these leaves? It depends on what the decision is at the end of the 60 days when the presentations are made by the people that have been by the commission. I expect that the presentations will be very much the same as they've been in the past and that is that I'll get about four sides of the story and have them enjoyed completely along the line. I'm not exactly leaving you, I just wanna be with you. You Nothing you can say or do, I've just made up my mind. One of the main things is that we do not encourage the use of these in air chambers as a method of destroying unwanted animals. We support the use the overdose of sodium pentobarbital. We found that there's been quite a bit of controversy in the country over the last couple of years about the use of the decompression chamber and how inhumane it is. So much so that testimony to this effect has resulted in the states of Arizona and Massachusetts outlawing, banning completely, the decompression chamber. Apparently, three different individuals sought to rent a house out of a Eugene Register Guard ad in the newspaper and they approached this house and found that there was indeed a subject there trying to rent the house. And the subject asked that they make an earnest deposit type of thing for about $500 and requested it to check. And three different people all applied for a rent and all put down a $500 check. They were told that they would receive a telephone call if indeed they had been to rent a home. And the three boys who are going to be editing. I went over on Monday and showed the house to the different applicants, you know, the applications that I took. And I received checks for the rent and the deposit. And then on Wednesday evening after that, she came and picked up the notebook with the deposit and the keys. And then the only thing I knew after that the kids began to call me about that they had gotten the house. And then the second one called me that they had dropped the house, and that's when the boy told me that he thought that this lady was a crook. I ask that the people in Eugene use common sense and get their mail down here to the post office as early as possible. We'll do the rest. This will not occur until we do a demonstration of other citizens' oversight in the operation. It's been filled with the belief that we do have the capacity systems or that the people can write their own- They want to string us up, not because we are responsible for fouling the environment, but because they want to spring up somebody and we're handy. So much in part out that members of the agricultural community are the original conservationists in the truest sense of the word. If it weren't for agriculture, they'd be talking about land reclamation instead of land planning. Now, let's remind some of those critics that we don't need to apologize for our stewardship of the land. Let's also remind them that the last decent job done by urban planners was when Sherman burned Atlanta to the ground. Thank you very much. How come you didn't tell us? How was the rest of the day? I don't know. Yeah, we didn't know anything about that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Aren't they going to know that? Here I have my actual family, so it's a perfection of what at that time was only the ideal. What kind of changes have come in your music? None at all because that music never changes. We do the old things by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Horace Silver, and they're all part of history. So there's not much you can do to change. We could try to change it, but I think that would be disrespectful to the music. So we keep that the same. Here's all my friends, cop your jobs for kids, wave your big dance and big big big big big grand man, don't have to move from where you stand, yes you can do the band man, you just have to be to do it. Do-bo-bo do-dick, dick, do-bo, do, dick, bo, bo-bo bo-dippin'. Now big grandman, big grand-man. Buh-duh-duhh, buh-buh-doop, da-ba-ba da-bam. Fan ma- that was passed while they also had a choice of a part-time I believe that Commissioner Weinstein's proposal is arbitrary I believe it also encourages bidding on the job of County Commissioner the salaries are not excessive and that if we are to address the issue, we should not do so through rhetoric, but should do so through honest research and citizen input and evaluation. I can say that two or three years ago I attempted a recall. I might point out that the pie, if we can say that, is not going to get larger and larger. Salaries do continue to rise. I would like to make the statement that I think that people at the top should take cuts and people at bottom should get raises. I do wish to set an example, a belt tightening example. Responsibility that you people are going to run into. Aren't you supposed to be worth a million dollars? You can afford to set up there for nothing if you wanted to. So you would come up with a. There's about 15 films and you can't run around. Today was the first two-to-one vote of the new board of commissioners. Jerry Rust, Archie Weinstein voted in favor of the rollback. Bob Wood, the incumbent commissioner, termed the roll back ridiculous and irresponsible, voted against it. Ken Strobeck, Eyewitness News in Eugene. Trying to come up with an idea for a writing final, and it seemed logical that if Carter had just been elected, we might write our suggestions. And they were pretty intelligent, really, from 14-year-olds. I thought so, anyway. I'm really excited about it. I haven't slept much lately. Or Mr. Johnson took it into hand and wrote a letter to the superintendent and then he told the students that we had to write essays and present them to the board last Monday night and the board had to vote on it and pass it before we could go. Part of our staff and then the rest of the group and the other ones who make the report. In the United States. We're gonna put all of our money kind of budgeted for all of us to eat as a group. We're going to cook our groceries. When I first heard about it, I ran to Mr. Johnson and asked him that I would want to go on one of the, put me on the first of the list. Tell us much about the people we use them. They can tell us about the history of the country or after the fire. When we hear that a next convict has shot and... Open that down all the way. The studies that we're working with Marine Science at Newport and then the Department of Fisheries in the State of Washington so far, they've been pleased with the results of the trap and basically because of the escape of the small crab. This is what they're very concerned with to perpetuate the species is to keep the small crabs from being hurt and damaged as they're thrown out of nets and traps. Are you guys glad to be going back to school? Yes. How come? Well, sitting around the house is a bit too fun. You just sort of sit around and nothing really to do. How about you? How do you feel about the passage of the school budget levy? I'm glad it passed, because... Well, I'm glad it passed, because the children need their education, but everything is going to go up again. The house taxes will go up, and it needed to pass for their education but it could have probably been cut more. And now we're ready to go. Ready to go, ready to send it. Out of the door. I'm going to suggest to the board at a subsequent meeting later in the month an idea in developing a report card to the public in which you identify an issue, then you indicate what we've done with it or about it or to it to satisfy their concern and then have them grade it. And if we get a high grade, then apparently we have achieved the goal that the public has asked for. If we get a low grade, then we better go back to school some more. Friday morning these busses will hit the roads, students and teachers will hit the classrooms. After seven weeks of no school, South Lane School District is finally getting back in operation. Sicily Hand, Eyewitness News in Cottage Grove. The need is certainly there. I also believe that the Lane County Charter has adopted and voted on. I'll move that. We refer this to legal counsel for input and also any other elected official in the county. Holdaway crab traps are currently being marketed only in the Pacific Northwest. They're aimed primarily at the sports fishermen, but developers are working on models that will accommodate not only the commercial fishermen, but all coastal waters off the United States and Alaska. Janice Williamson, Eyewitness News in Eugene. What palmistry really says is, in detail, where you are at the present. Your hand will change pretty constantly. Minor marks will move across your hand or appear and disappear from week to week. Major lines will change more slowly from month to month or year to year. That's one reason why long range predictions are pretty useless. One SATIS palmistry class can offer your students a unique alternative away from their everyday curriculum, or can provide the curious with a quick glimpse into the future.
