As you set around in the woods, which I hope you already have and remember to apply for your doe deer tag, your cow elk tag, or possibly one of those special hunts you want to hunt this fall, now's about the time to get it done. June the 15th is as early as they'll accept the applications in Salem, or July the 15th is as late as they'll accept. So you have to apply for these special tags and control hunts now. Stop by your local sporting goods store, pick you up one of these papers, which will give you explicit instructions on how to fill out the application for your tag. And this paper is free. You have to pay a dollar for your application card. That's different than last year where you went in, picked up a free application card, and mailed a dollar with it. That's to keep from sending money through the mail to the game commission. Remember, if you're lucky... And get one of these tags, get out into the field this fall. Keep your safety on until you're absolutely sure. As most people know Bill and Cindy Wooten started the fair many many years ago and over the year their role has changed and diminished and another group of other people have started to take over responsibilities until at this point the fair really runs without any one individual making much of a difference, although we'd miss people if they weren't here. I think that's one big change. Another big change is just the cooperation of the people that participate in it, in making the systems work. Your station covered the sweep last night, and that was one of the systems that really relies on the people who are here, not only to help move people out that don't belong here, but also to help and show. Get their passes out to show that they do, and to understand when they have to leave.
