Former Eugenian Craig Wasson has the lead role and he does a nice acting job, but he's hamstrung by the poor script. Thief of Hearts is a little better in concept. The semi-erotic movie tells the tale of a man who steals a woman's private journals, then seduces her using the fantasies contained in the books. It's an interesting concept, but in a lot of ways, it's an offensive one. The idea that rape can be trendy for dissatisfied, liberated women. This movie offers solid reassurance for the men in the audience that women want only to be mastered, and they can never be trusted. That's not an encouraging stereotype. But there is one excellent movie staying around town, and that's a soldier's story. It's the tale of an investigation into the death of a black sergeant on a southern base. Former Eugenian Craig Wasson has the lead role and he does a nice acting job, but he's hamstrung by the poor script. Thief of Hearts is a little better in concept. The semi-erotic movie tells the tale of a man who steals a woman's private journals, then seduces her using the fantasies contained in the books. It's an interesting concept, but in a lot of ways, it's an offensive one. The idea that rape can be trendy for dissatisfied, liberated women. This movie offers solid reassurance for the men in the audience that women want only to be mastered, and they can never be trusted. That's not an encouraging stereotype. But there is one excellent movie staying around town, and that's a soldier's story. It's the tale of an investigation into the death of a black sergeant on a southern base.
