Miles away on the east side, ground crews are trying to keep the fire from spreading into the wilderness. The Silver Fire has charred 66,000 acres in the four weeks it's been burning. Officials are not saying yet when they hope to contain it. In the meantime, hundreds of firefighters are still in southern Oregon mopping up the other fires that were controlled in recent weeks.
