How long can this go on? This, meaning this wonderful fall weather we're having, means for us lower fruits and vegetable prices because of the beautiful harvest we're having. Let's look at the vegetable market first. Wonderful spinach coming in out of Eastern Oregon. Thank you very much for joining us. We'll see you next time. Local corn, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, all coming in. Very reasonably priced, very good quality. I'm sure everybody's got zucchini and tomatoes in their garden this year. Out of California, the artichoke season is just beginning. Prices might make you choke a bit, about $0.75 a piece. But the quality is good. Prices will be coming down. Turning to the fruit department. We're starting to get some fuerte avocados in this week. Now, the hasa avocado, which have been in all summer, very expensive this year. Forte is, although not quite as flavorful, about half the price, about $0.40 apiece. Other good buys this week, local Bartlett pears coming in. Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Jonathan Apples, all very good quality. Out of California, seedless and tokay grapes coming in now. About the end of the season, two or three more weeks, there won't be any more grapes. But the quality and the price on grapes is very good right now. Finally, fruit item of the week out of Mexico, ruby red grapefruit, although not as sweet as the Texas grapefruit. These grapefruits are very good for the time of the season. Price is fairly reasonable, $3 or $4. They will be coming down. Best vegetable item this week, green pepper, pound for pound, more vitamin C than an orange.
