First, most of the readings were taken in the northwest corner of the state, and the readings taken vary considerably. Oregon State University researcher Floyd Bodyfelt told us he saw one isolated sample of 543 picocuries in milk several times more than the statewide average but still 30 times less than what the Environmental Protection Agency considers to be a health problem. Your picture and personal statistics put in their files, and this booklet about being an extra, but no guarantees of being in a movie. Frank Wilcox of Chacota Productions told us that, among other things, he was casting for the movie Benji the Hunted, a movie about a dog that will be filmed in Oregon. But he didn't want to talk about it on camera, not until next week when he said he'd be meeting with Mulberry Square Productions, the people making the movie. We talked to the people who are producing the movie, Benji, and they say they have been contacted by Frank Wilcock several times, but they don't need his services. In fact, they don't t need any casting for Benji. After the first few minutes of the film, there are no people. Benji simply interacts with other animals. You still see tents, but it's a lot more comfortable to sleep in the Winnebago and check out Johnny Carson. And you just can't beat those modern conveniences. For example, why waste time and energy gathering firewood when you can buy it for two bucks? And if you forget matches and rubbing two sticks together is just too old-fashioned, you can always call out for pizza. Joan Rivers would say, can we talk? I say, let us talk. And let us today a little bit about one of the most popular salad greens eaten in this country today, fresh lettuce. Lettuce has been around a long time. Its exact origin is somewhat unknown, although we tend to believe that it originated in the Mediterranean area some 2,500 years ago. In Greek mythology, Adonis, the Greek god, was laid to rest when he died on a bed of lettuce. Thus we had the first Greek salad. Henry VIII gave his gardener a special merit for making a salad of fresh lettuce and cherries. This was in the 16th century when lettuce started to become cultivated. Now, there are many varieties of lettuce. Basically, they fall into two categories. The head or cabbage variety and the coost or leaf variety. The leaf variety tends to be more nutritious. This is because the leaves are open to the sun. They get more chlorophyll, so they contain more amounts of vitamin A, iron, and protein than the head lettuce. Now this is a good week for lettuce because the lettuce that we're getting now, particularly all the leaf items, are coming in locally. Lettuce is running anywhere from 49 to 69 cents a head, excellent quality, and it's a great addition for your salad bowl. So if you want to stay ahead this week, eat some fresh lettuce. For Eyewitness News, I'm Terry Potassium.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70963/file/156914#t=1818.85,1902.18
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70963/file/156914/transcript/88248/annotation/84
Speaker 5: I haven't read it.
