This however does not abdicate for any of us our responsibility of office and we think because of the tremendous impact the property tax is having and increases this year that We must stay here and find other alternatives to offer to the people. As a substitute for rising property taxes. I think it's something like 45 millions of dollars this year, property taxes across the state will increase. And this is a tremendous gain in one year's period. We expect that in 1968, the same thing will be true. So we're looking at 80 to 90 millions of dollars of new property taxes before the legislature comes back in session. We have plenty of money to do our job on a state level. But we are still seeking ways to find a tax bill that will suit the fancy of the majority of both parties and both houses so that we can put something on the ballot in November for the people to make the choice on. We think it's imperative, all of us are eager to get home, we're tired, but we're going to stay here and do our very best to get some type of a property tax relief proposal before the people in November of this 1967. The Joe Rogers plan, Joe Rogers is a Republican representative, member of the House Tax Committee from Polk County and certainly a veteran of legislative activity. Joe has proposed that we use an alternative plan which first of all calls for a limitation, calls for sales tax or an income tax. And we're trying to draft a measure now to where the people can go to the polls in November and say first of, we want a limitation on the amount of property taxes that can be levied. And if we do, we want it supported by an increase in income taxes, or we prefer that it be supported by the passage of a sales tax.
