That agricultural land was to get an automatic 50% property tax reduction, whether they farmed it or not. Now, what has Lane County done? Lane County has gone far beyond what the legislature required. I also want to point out to you here in goal three of the goals. Goal three speaks only of exclusive farm use zones. Period. Now, just what is Lane County doing with all of these other invented particles? You don't need them. Zone what you have to as exclusive farm use zone, give the people the 50% property tax deduction that the law requires, and leave the rest of it alone. Who needs farming or zoning? Can you people plan an owner's land better than he can himself? As long as his land is not restricted through state law, why is the county coming along and restricting it otherwise? You have no authority to do it. And there if I farm my land, put it this way, United States government $1,000 penalty tax in 1982. The way I figure it, I'll break even if I don't do anything. And I'll go broke if I do farm. Now, if you want place you can get a building permit today is Houston, Texas. So there is one place, thank God, that they don't have planning and zoning. Now, all of this, for God's sakes, don't saddle the people of this county with this garbage. Saddle them with only with what the law requires. And if you haven't read these laws for yourself, please do so. Here's five copies. Underlined in blue ink. The state said they wanted exclusive farm use land. That's all. Why bother with anything else? The zoning requirements ask for exclusive farm use zone. That's what he's talking about. ES You.
