I'm not going to go into any long sob stories about the White Sox. We'll get them next year. Anyways, here it is October. We're coming into kind of the change of the seasons. The trees are turning color and harvest is happening. What's going on in the fruit and vegetable department? I'll give you the best buys, the worst buys, and some new things that are happening. Vegetables, best buys this week. Onions, very good. Lettuce. Stick to leaf lettuce because head lettuce is very high, 89 cents, 98 cents a head. Spinach is also a very good buy, 49, 39 cents ahead a head. New things coming in now. Elephant garlic, which is a large garlic, a lot milder than your regular garlic. You might want to try it. Yams and sweet potatoes coming on now. Cauliflower local, very, very nice right now. And a chanterelle mushrooms coming in from out in the woods. Chanterelles, very, very beautiful gourmet mushroom. If you've ever tried them, I suggest you try some chanterelles. Tomatoes out of California now, the local tomatoes just about finished up, gonna be a little higher price, especially the large tomatoes, gonna run close to a dollar a pound. Over in the fruit department, well, out of California, melon season, grape season just about over. We are getting some wonderful honeydews coming in right now, very reasonably priced. The head lining fruits, peas and teas. Peas, pears, of course, you know about it, also pomegranates and persimmons out of California. These are a little green. The pomegranates also are coming out in their season, really October, November, and December, the three best months for them. And finally, out of Texas, the Texas grapefruit coming in. And everybody knows Texas grapefruit are the best, of course so are Indian rivers. Texas grapefruit, three for a dollar, a little high price and a little tart. But if you've missed the grapefruit all summer, they're back in season right now. So all in all, it's a good week. It was a good week for everybody but the White Sox, but C' La V for Eyewitness News, I'm Terry Potassium.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70644/file/156590#t=438.57,544.69
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70644/file/156590/transcript/87484/annotation/12
Speaker 5: So I'll set the guard that I think. It's complicated, but here's how it works in a nutshell. The state figures the percentage of the company's Oregon payroll in comparison to its total payroll. The same goes for its Oregon property taxes and its Oregon sales in relation to the total corporate structure. Using those figures and a complex formula, the state figures the company's corporate income tax. But some companies, particularly the Japanese, complain that they're taxed differently from one state to another, and as a result, they say they may end up paying tax on more than 100% of their income. The unitary tax has drawn a lot of fire, as one key reason why choice development sites like this remain vacant.
