To try to push the housing recovery, Weaver says he'll soon introduce in Congress the Pacific Northwest Housing Affordability Bill. If it passes, the BPA would be required to put up $10,000 for 10 years for each new home buyer in the region. The money would be used for energy conservation. Well, as you can see, I've been at the Lane County Fair last week. Had a great time. You know, some kid came up to me and said, Hey, you're the fruit guy from KEZI. Well, I guess I am. And let's take a focus on fruit this week. It's a good week for a fruit salad. Out of California for a stuff, melons of all different kinds, cantaloupes, cassavas, honeydew melons, all excellent price, 19 to 39 cents a pound, and the quality of the melons is good. They're gonna be real sweet this week. Other things out of California, red flame and seedless green grapes coming in now. Very, very sweet, high sugar content, under a dollar a pound. Very good value this week. Locally, what's happening? Well, here I've laid out some Bartlett pears. You can see how they pick green, and as they slowly temp up a few days of room temperature, they turn to this beautiful nice yellow color, and that's when they're ripe and ready to eat, and boy, they are sweet. Also, locally, green and red graven scene apples, new crop of apples right now. They're a good all-purpose apple. The Gravenstein apples they run about 40 to 50 cents a pound. Very, very good. Also locally, Red Haven Peaches, about the end of the season for peaches. We'll be into the Albertas and the Hales, which are very good for canning, but these Red Havens, excellent eating peach. Also, prune plums coming in now locally and out of Washington. These are the Italian variety. We'll have the President and the Brooks coming out a little later. Nectarines coming in locally right now. 40 to 60 cents a pound, pretty good quality on our local nectarines. California crop hasn't been so so this year, so the local ones are a little better. Also, finally, in fact, blueberries locally. About the end of the season for blueberries, about another week, and they'll be all gone. They're weighing about $1.20 a pound. So it's a really great week for a fruit salad, all in all. And one last thing, happy birthday to my darling wife, Susan. She's 32 years old. I shouldn't say that, maybe she's 29 years old. Anyways, for eyewitness news, I'm Terry Potassium.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70438/file/156384#t=789.0,891.4
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70438/file/156384/transcript/86958/annotation/36
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70438/file/156384#t=917.01,917.25
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70438/file/156384/transcript/86958/annotation/37
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70438/file/156384#t=957.23,958.43
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70438/file/156384/transcript/86958/annotation/38
Speaker 21: From the county yard all the way out to North Delta Highway.
