A Eugene company has purchased the marketing and patent rights for this automatic chimney sweep. Ho ho ho to everybody. Last week, I told you about giving the gift of food. We talked about fruit baskets. And thinking about fruit baskets, first I'll tell you that the fruit market is very stable this week. There's good buys on oranges, apples, fall grapes, tangerines of all kinds. You can put together a very nice fruit basket for a very reasonable price. But what if you've got some vegetarian friends out there and you want to put together a veggie basket? We can do some really wonderful things with vegetables. We put together a couple of baskets here: eggplant, cauliflower, broccoli, and you can see that a vegetable basket looks just as nice as a fruit basket. But you better really like these friends you're giving veggie baskets too, because the vegetable market is in turmoil. Veggies right now are going up in price, mainly because it's the time of the year. A couple items that are most affected right now are lettuce, head lettuce, and tomatoes. Now, tomatoes are coming all the way from Florida, all the way across country. They're picked very green and then shipped over here. Tomatoes are running over a dollar a pound and they don't have very good flavor. You might want to go to a cherry tomato, which are still coming out of California and Mexico. On the other hand, head lettuce is coming out of California, which isn't very far. The problem is they've had a lot of wet weather down there. They've been unable to get in the fields, and head lettuce is running about 89 cents a pound. That translates to a lot of lettuce for some lettuce. You're gonna pay almost two dollars a head. So whether you get a fruit basket or whether you give a vegetable basket or whatever you do, I want you to have a very merry, safe Christmas and enjoy the holiday season.
