Running for county commissioner, what else but mixed nuts, of course, here locally anyways. For mayor, how about onions? They come in all colors, sizes, and shapes, and of course onions can be mild or bitter, depending on what time of the year they are, much like our politicians. State offices, well, representatives. We've got the bananas running against the oranges. They both seem to have quite a peel. And they're both available year round, so they'll have a good voting record. For senators, we've got tomatoes and carrots. Tomatoes, a very sensitive kind of fruit or vegetable, however you want to think of them. Kind of extravagant. Carrots, on the other hand, will give you the foresight to make the right political decisions. For ambassadors, how about some Sevee, Savoy cabbage maybe? How does that sound? Kind of hard to say. Mushrooms, political cabinet appointees. Kind of like a fungus, that's what mushrooms are, you know. These would make great political cabinet appointmentees. Let's get a little espionage in the cabinet this year. How about red, Bartlett-Pairs, for all you McCarthyites out there. And also, for all the government information that gets leaked out, we offer leaks right now. Finally, that brings us down to the president. Who else could be president but? Mr. Potato Head, of course, make a wonderful candidate. There was one proposition, Proposition Number 873, which legalizes the growing of asparagus for personal consumption. I'm all for that. The best thing about this year's election, fruit and vegetable election, is that if you're unhappy with any of the candidates, you can go to the store, buy them, take them home, cook them up, and eat them.
