Earlier this evening, members and supporters of Eugene's Decommissioning Alliance gathered to begin a weekend-long protest. Their protest, they want the Trojan nuclear power plant near Rainier closed, closed permanently. It started last March when the Nuclear Regulatory Agency shut that plant down, saying that there was a serious radiation leak causing health hazards to many of the workers. And tonight, these people want that plant closed, close permanently. But earlier this week, Governor Bob Stroud writing President Carter saying if they don't open that plant, chances are Oregonians' electric bills will go up, go up by the end of the year.
