Wood was also told he had not allowed for sufficient parking in his site plan and that traffic congestion could be a problem. I would agree the original site plan for the miniature golf course was imperfect. He revised it and appealed the rejection. Tuesday night, Wood took his new plan before the Eugene City Planning Commission. The rejection was based not on Wood's revised site plan, but on the original one that had been denied by the hearings official. What you might not be able to guess, though, is that the beef cattle industry is the biggest moneymaker within the agricultural category. About 30% of Douglas County's $34 million ag business is derived from the sale of beef cattle and calves. That comes to about $10 million a year. The number two ag industry in the Roseburg area is something county officials call small woodland products. Simply put, small woodlands products are trees which are harvested on plots of privately owned land. About 21% of Douglas County's agricultural income is generated by sale of these trees. The farming of row crops and grass seed, which we in the Willamette Valley normally associate with agriculture, are relatively small contributors to the ag industry in and around Roseburg. Together, these two types of farming produce only about $1.5 million of income. After cattle ranching, sheep ranching sales of private timber and Christmas trees, These little guys right here are Douglas County's next most important agricultural asset.
