This was determined after consultation with the Senate, the Legal Affairs Committee, and the ASUA Legal Council. It was based upon a feeling that except for two individuals, no negotiations took place between the Cultural Issues Center and the individual speakers. The feeling $75 is a workable precedent for future symposiums. Budgetary considerations dictated by the fact that the available funds for the Cultural Issues Center have already been spent. And see, there was no individual negotiation with the individual speakers and the Cultural Issues Center. And As far as Tommy's, you know, those speakers who had what amounted to contracts prior to the symposium or after they performed were paid on the basis of those contracts. Tommy, now, Tommy, Ray Eaglin was paid $500. Tommy, what we did in Tommy's case, I have to remember that Tommy was an individual who helped plan the symposium. He was also one individual, along with Ray, who actually negotiated individually with the cultural issues. Cultural Issues Center. Full-time careers. In citizen and community action as the number one profession in the country. Now you can do it on a small scale right at the beginning, within a year. These young lawyers and ecologists and economists and accountants and other technical people that will be working for you, they're going to have an impact. They're going open up new horizons, disclose new abuses, develop coalitions for more just situations. But that isn't gonna be the most important The most important impact is going to be on you. There is no way to convey the feeling, the importance of this new dimension of professional citizenship. It's got to literally involve 10% to 20% of all college or professional graduate school graduates. That's how much of a demand there is. As the velocity of human interchange increases, we cannot afford to have the vast majority of the professional talent in this country going to organizations dedicated to the pursuit of private objectives. Of appreciation which is best cultivated by very generic self-examination. Why? Why do students in this country spend millions of dollars for massive rock groups? They just spend it right down the line and they won't spend to send up their own representatives and take their concerns which they have, which they really believe in and get them developed into action and resolution. Why do students support Pepsi Cola, Coca Cola, Frito-Lay, and all the rest? Why don't they develop these kinds of action arms, these kinds implementations? After all, what is the crisis here? It's at least equivalent to putting out fires, to stopping epidemics, to saving a country. Well, first. I can't really say that I'm questioning the method by which we cook the dressing. That is, we can either stuff it into the turkey, which has been the traditional method, or we can bake it in a pan or in aluminum foil for an hour to an hour and a half. I'm question it because of the danger of bacterial growth, and I'm advocating that over 18 pounds not be stuffed. Because of the danger of food poisoning bacteria. And I think that turkeys can be stuffed with reasonable safety if they're under 18 pounds if certain safety precautions are followed. You have your dressing or stuffing, which is excellent food for the bacteria. You have ideal moisture levels, which bacteria need. You have several opportunities for bacteria For food poisoning bacteria to get into the dressing, the fact that the dressing receives so much handling during its preparation, and secondly, the fact that poultry is known to be contaminated with salmonella, particularly in the digestive tract. And of course, the interior of the turkey is where you put your stuffing. So you have your bacteria. And lastly, you have the ideal temperature conditions because a turkey is a big bird. And in roasting, it takes a long time for this heat to penetrate the dressing. And the dressing temperature goes up very slowly. And all during this time, the bacteria can grow and multiply. So you have this danger of bacteria being present that can cause food
