The open gallery has a show of mixed media on display using photography, slides, sculpture, and paintings to create a whimsical look into the world beyond. Pieces like this soft sculpture called a radar runner will delight even the youngest art fan. So will this collection of children's paintings done by kids at the Riverside Alternative School. Other objects of art are more unusual. If you closely examine Rose's milk dream, you'll find a face staring up at you. Or you can take a peek into life at the Drone Hotel, as pictured in this patchwork of mediums. The familiar lost wax process is used in a unique way to form this single cast resin sculpture, resembling a humanoid of another planet. There is even a touch of the macabre, as seen in this diorama entitled the Morpheus Meat Company. Bits and pieces of meat, cheese, and skeletons are laying around a dilapidated store that might be found in the twilight zone. There are some actual scientific displays such as these pictures of an eclipse taken by Oregon high school students, as well as slide shows from NASA and pictures of lunar rocks. Yes, a visit to this exhibition will convince even the most skeptical that the future is here now. Science and fantasy are well blended in this exhibit. The public should find the show exciting and imaginative at the very least. And if they look close enough, even oddly bizarre. The new buns are just the thing for a hungry deer, but it's a real hassle for the BLM. The deer can wipe out a whole season's effort to reforest many acres. To outsmart the deer, BLM has turned to a variety of deterrents. In one case, tubes have been set up around the seedlings which deer can't bite through. The tubes are supposed to break down within four years to release the seedling. They're not as tasty to deer as younger dug furlings.
