First of all, the grocery cart store, which is located on the highway 99, is closed. The police are through with their investigation, but it will remain closed until 6 30 tomorrow morning when we open again for business. Now, last night, just before one o'clock, a customer came to the store and noticed a man taking the clerk from the store. He was a regular customer. He knew the clerk would not leave the store on her own and unattended, so he thought there was something wrong. He also reportedly thought that the woman was actually being dragged or forced. She wasn't going on her own. So he then went across the parking lot to the Dunkin Donuts store where he dialed 911 for help. Just a tremendously difficult time for the Reed family and for the police as well. They really need the help of the public with this case. Rick, Lisa? Jean, what do we know about the suspect? Well, we know a few things, not much. But here is a physical description of the young man. He is a white male. He's in his late 20s to his mid 30s. He's got a medium build, brown mustache, and the early stages of a beard. He was wearing blue jeans, a short-sleeved white shirt, and a dark baseball cap last night at the time that it happened. Also, they reportedly left in an older, small pickup, white or light in color, blue markings on the driver's side. Two interesting notes, the clerk did leave her coat inside the store when she left, and her car was left untouched in the parking lot.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71390/file/157342#t=1295.96,1377.28
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71390/file/157342/transcript/89770/annotation/89
Speaker 13: All right, thanks, Jean. On-ramps and off-ramp will be widened and lengthened, so there should be fewer accidents on the road. The $30 million project will pay to earthquake-proof the bridge. The whole one-mile corridor will widen the walkways and bike paths. Representative Peter DeFazio was on hand today to announce the federal commitment to the project. He's especially glad the plan will include a bike and pedestrian bridge, but the improvements come at a cost. Les Schwal will be relocated altogether. Floors Unlimited will lose its Cobra Road access and the owner says they're considering legal action against the city. Some other businesses just on the north side of the bridge include Goodwill, two-car dealerships and a restaurant that are also going to lose some property when the city completes its three-year project. But periodically, a runner's still going by and a bicyclist. It was absolutely a beautiful day. And we did go out to see how people spent it around town. And it gave everyone a chance to smile. And just about everyone found some reason to get outside, even the workers, even if it was just for a lunch break. Will last. One thing I did notice a lot of people of course out because the weather was so great today they're either running or they're inline skating or they are bicycling and with so many more people coming out because the weather turns good it's always good to remember the rules which are ride and run and walk to the right and let people pass to the left because these paths get awfully full and we want everyone to have a chance to enjoy themselves safely.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71390/file/157342#t=3131.54,3182.32
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71390/file/157342/transcript/89770/annotation/200
Speaker 10: When you go by aren't you supposed to yell, you know, just to come around your ride or something and let people know you're there.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71390/file/157342#t=3183.18,3187.46
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71390/file/157342/transcript/89770/annotation/201
Speaker 12: That's right, as you approach someone from behind be sure and say on your left and then pass them on the left. We're going to test how the human body is affected by alcohol. More on that in a minute. First, let's take a look at what people said when they first found out that state lawmakers wanted to tighten the restrictions on drunk driving. Mothers Against Drunk Driving is not offering its support for this 0.06 bill for strategic reasons. Bill Rice, the president of Mothers against Drunk driving local, says they still have 37 states to go in their movement to reduce the level to 0.08 nationwide and right now they don't want to appear too radical, Rick. Randy, has this ever been tried before? Well, Matt tells me it was tried a couple of years ago. Uh... There was a proposal out to reduce the level 2.04 now that died in committee so it will be interesting to find out how this turns out now to find how those numbers are are conveyed in real life we're going to do an experiment i'm going to start drinking beer now i'm going to test the alcohol and we'll find out period periodically throughout the show how this affects the body will have somebody come in and do a breath laser test on me
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71390/file/157342#t=3210.65,3275.24
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71390/file/157342/transcript/89770/annotation/206
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71390/file/157342#t=3276.31,3277.83
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/71390/file/157342/transcript/89770/annotation/207
Speaker 14: And I'm Randy Nebs, I'm here at the Oregon Medical Laboratories.
