But they do like to stay out of class. The reaction to the moratorium day that took place in the United States was not so much on the substance of moratorium day, but simply a reaction against the kind of dissent and the kind discussion that was taking place in the streets and on the college campuses and on court house steps of the United States. I think it was a reaction to their very process of dissents. And I think the president's speech... While we may argue over the substance of it at the very chilling effect of putting the damper on dissent. The purpose of dissent and debate in this United States is to discover truth, truth about an issue, to come to a national consensus. I think that we believe that a man just up-speaking his mind and saying it like it is and rapping. It all depends on who is interpreting disparity. Firefighters don't feel that their problems were totally accepted. We figured that this was a compromise last time. But we foresee further problems when we get into the present budgetary practices of a 16-man budget committee. The only question that some of these people really understand are wages. They don't understand when they're talking about millions of dollars in the city budget. They don't understand. The Board of County Commissioners feel that it is in the interest of all Lane County citizens that all areas of the county receive the maximum benefit for each tax dollar regardless of its source. Along this line of thinking, it would seem very clear that cooperative ventures between the cities and the county would lead to a higher level of service for the same level of expenditures. And I think that's very important. That I was a mastermind behind a stink bomb plot, that Rennie Davis, in fact, Renni Davis' greatest crime, as far as I can tell at this point, is having given a speech, which was played in the courtroom on film. And the speech was so bad that he apologized to the other defendants when he was finished for being so liberal. So that those are the kinds of crimes that we're charged with. They, in, fact, represent no crimes. And I think, to be very serious, the government has not proved their case. I think we're going to be found guilty because, in the first place, this isn't a trial. And so I don't even really believe in a verdict because a verdict in some way legitimizes what's happening. In order to gage the amount of discrimination that is in the community, one place that we can go for actual data is to the Bureau of Labor, specifically the Civil Rights Division of the Bureau of Labor which has had the responsibility for administering the Oregon state law in the area of civil rights.
