I realized that the 4th of July was last week, but it took quite a while to get these babies from New York. Maybe the tackiest things I've seen all year. But anyways, and speaking of America and things that are all American, what is Casper the Ghost's favorite fruit? Blueberries, well blueberries, and blueberries are an all-American fruit. They're one of the few berries that is actually native to North America. They're in season now locally. Now blueberries this year, like some of the other berries and cherries, are going to be higher priced. A lot of the local blueberries have been shipped down to California and the berries haven't really started coming on that strong yet. Another week or so, blueberries right now running about a dollar to $1.98 a basket, but we can't expect to have some very good quality. Other things like cherries. Again, higher prices this year, because there has been lower quality and less quantity raspberries. And as long as the weather continues to be not too warm, we should continue to have raspberries Over in the vegetable department, lots of things coming in locally. We talked about all the leaf items, leaf lettuce coming in. Great week for that. Well, some new items. Green beans coming in now, 59 to 79 cents a pound, very good quality. Snow peas and sugar peas coming in right now, around $2 a pound. We're finally starting to get some local tomatoes. These little yellow ones are low acid golden nugget cherry tomatoes about a dollar basket very sweet Also, hot house red tomatoes coming in right now, about a dollar a pound, very excellent quality. And finally, it's walla walla sweet onion time. Once a year, right before your eyes, I eat a walla-walla sweet-onion, raw, live. And once again, I will demonstrate that these onions are not hot, they're very sweet. They're a short season, two months of the year. They're great raw, as you can tell, in salads, also great sauteed or barbecued. If you've never had an onion, a Walla Walla sweet onion, you've never had onion. You've got to try these. I do suggest you buy lots of certs or something because you're going to have lousy breath after you eat one of these. Anyways, enjoy the blueberries, enjoy the Walla walla sweet onions. Have a good week. Fly Witness News. I'm Terry Potassium.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70995/file/156946#t=15.74,139.33
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70995/file/156946/transcript/88269/annotation/2
Speaker 2: Let's be serious.
