Lettuce is a little bit short this week, so head lettuce prices are up. Other good values this week green beans, wax beans locally, green peppers out of California, carrots out of California, squash, zucchini, yellow squash, all coming in very good quality right now, and very reasonable prices. So swinging over to the fruit department, cherry seasons upon us. In the stores, you'll find mostly Lambert or Bings. They're the dark red cherry. Excellent eating cherry. There are many other varieties of cherries, particularly royal ants that are grown here, and Queen Anne's. Other things happening. Nectarines and peaches out of California. Prices continue to drop, 40 to 60 cents a pound. Higher prices for Valencia oranges, 50 cents a pound. It's a short orange crop right now. Out of New Zealand, the Granny Smith apple crop is just about finished up. 70 to 80 cents a pound for these apples. Another week, and they'll be gone. And finally, Best Buys. Fruit Department cantaloupes and watermelons. Watermelon about ten to twelve cents a pound, excellent quality out of California. And the cantaloupes are coming out of California now. They're beautiful, they're twenty to forty cents a pound, and they taste great. For eyewitness news, I'm Terry Potassium.
text/plain
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70421/file/156365#t=1253.34,1352.06
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70421/file/156365/transcript/87016/annotation/71
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70421/file/156365#t=1373.73,1374.85
https://uoregon.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1635/collection_resources/70421/file/156365/transcript/87016/annotation/72
Speaker 33: And see the low that would be on the program. For example, I'm used to reading Robert Ludlum books and other similar authors, where the lead character has to go through all sorts of counterespionage calisthenics before he reaches his appointed goal. A man assigned this Choice Eastwood, an Army major who speaks fluent Russian, flies excellently, and keeps having traumatic flashbacks to Vietnam, which come into play more often as the film progresses. And as I said earlier, I feel the film caresses very nicely, which makes it worth a look. Well, before we leave, one other film note to leave you with. You remember the movie Willard back in 1975, where all these killer rats kept running around, eating people and the like, very happy film. Okay, Hollywood does not want people to forget Willard, so they come up with a new variation on the theme, which is called rats, where rats are turned loose in the New York City subway system. Another happy idea. Only problem is the producer has had problems casting rats which can actually act, which puts them in a little bit of a bind since they are the lead characters. So what they've decided to do in a stroke of genius, and I hope I can say this with a straight face, is take little dogs and put them in fur coats to play the lead rats. I can hardly wait to see the close ups. I'm sure you can too. It should be out sometime later this year, rats. Something to look forward to. Anthony concedes that name familiarity is his biggest problem, and he admits that getting a jump on his opponent might be the key to victory.
