The gouge from the slide's been filled and a new gravel surface covers the boat ramp access road. But it'll be a few months before crews lay any fresh asphalt here. It took time to apply for and secure emergency repair funds, and engineers want to make sure Silver Creek is truly stabilized. Over toward Mapleton, things look a lot better this winter at the Archie Knowles Campground. One year ago, silt was almost to the top of picnic tables at a few of the campsites. The floodwaters turned access roads into gritty jelly rolls and ate away at gravel parking pads. Crews spent a lot of time last year excavating the sediment and clearing debris, but November's floods sent another surge through the back part of the campground. You can still see the high water line. Recreation planners suspect Noles Creek is trying to change its course and that might force them to move a few tables and fire rings.
