Paul Quake's businesses, American Plastics and Moonpool Equipment, are only two of seven he has operated in Lane County. International Plastics, Verdi, HK Manufacturers Rep, A1 Restaurant and Bar Equipment, and Indigo Industries. All are corporations formed by Quake and allowed to quietly die after a few years in operation. They stretch back to 1972. And so does the file of complaints in the Lane County District Attorney's Office. Some refer to the time before Quake was in plastics when he sold restaurant equipment. But the entries seem to form a pattern. The department wrote to Quake, but he replied that he hadn't made the deal with the McGee's, said the man who had was gone, and that he, Quake, was stuck with the debts that man had left. Finally, Paul Quake suggested the McGee's put up the dome themselves. But the McGee's say it was Paul Quake who dealt with them right from the start. And the state tells us that since Virginia Stones is the only complaint it has received, it plans no further action. That, despite the Lane DA's file and a file of complaints at Eugene's Better Business Bureau, which reportedly goes back ten years, we were not allowed to see it. And over on the coast, there's a lot of jack salmon, sea run cutthroat, fall chinook, and cohose all in the river at the same time now. I like to get over there and catch a few of those. I'm going to share with you one of my secrets, and you better get your pencil and paper. I don't share a whole lot of secrets with my fishing buddies. But I'm going to show you how to rig up to drift fish eggs in the on these coast streams in the low water conditions over there. You're always having to change your weight, the amount of weight you have on your line so you get a drift just right. The way I do that is I tie up my normal egg rig and tie it just a little bit longer than I normally would. Then when I use my improved clinch knot or clinch knot at my swivel, I just leave the tag end hanging down, don't trim it off. Then you can just pinch a couple of split shot on there. Your main line's about 20 pound test, and your drops about 10 pounds. So if you get those split shot hung, they just pull right off there. You can just clamp some new ones on there. Or if you want to adjust your weight, you can just reach down there and pull one of those off, and you've adjusted your weight. You go over there and try this rig, catch one of those big salmon, let me know. This is Terry Coleman for Eyewitness Sports.
