Election time, that is. As spring flowers are popping out all over, so are lawn signs endorsing candidates for the May 20th primary. Everywhere you look, these knee-high posters are decorating neighborhoods. Most of them are fairly ordinary, giving only a name in the office they're running for. Some candidates are going in for the sign publicity in a big way. Others, well, we couldn't even find evidence they were running. There were lots of houses that were for rent. I suppose rent is a popular write-in candidate this year. I've always wondered when people volunteer their votes when they actually support the candidate's signs they set up. Most people I spoke with really were for the person they've agreed to advertise, but I'm sure there are a few signs secretly planted in the middle of the night. There seems to be a lack of imaginative or amusing signs this year I did find one odd occurrence, this empty field endorsing its favorite candidates. I wouldn't exactly call it a whole lot of support. But it's certainly coming from the grassroots.
