I think what would have been in the best interest of Oregon. Was to have demanded and received from the Japanese unrestricted access to their market. They chose not to do that. And when I see guys like the picture of that funny looking guy sitting on the chair of the Columbia University president with his feet on the desk and smoking the cigar when the student sees that university, I see red.
