In a letter to Pro Book Forces, Commissioner Sonya Grove lambasted Get Organized as being, quote, simplistic and inane in its glossary, holding simplistic views of Indians. The initiative would prevent a victim's home address and telephone number from being given to the suspect, and the victim would have to be told they are under no obligation to talk to the suspects attorney. A victim's schedule would be considered when setting trial dates. Victims would not be barred from the courtroom during trial, and multiple suspects could be tried at the same time. That means the suspects in the car bombing death of Robert Harris could have been tried together instead of resulting in five separate trials for three people. The prosecution would be given the same number of jury challenges when they object to a potential juror. A suspect's prior record would be made public. The jury would be shown a picture of the murder victims when they were alive and healthy. When the criminal is sentenced, a victim would be allowed to appear and express opinions on the record. It increases repayment to the victim by the criminal. A defendant could be convicted and sentenced on each crime committed instead of combining several crimes together. After sentencing, the victim would be given 30 days warning of their assailant's release or parole. It also specifies that convicted criminals would have to continue supervised parole for the remainder of their sentence. Currently, supervision continues for only six months after parole.
